Undersecretary for Justice Andrea Delmastro delle Vedove was sentenced to eight months in prison for revealing official secrets in the case of anarchist Alfredo Cospito. The sentence was handed down by the Court of Rome, which also ordered a one-year ban from public office. The case had stemmed from the disclosure of confidential information about prison interviews between Cospito and other inmates. Prosecutors had asked for the case to be dismissed, believing the breach was possible but without sufficient elements to prove the intentionality of the crime. After the conviction, Delmastro said, "I hope there will be a judge in Berlin, but I will not resign".
