Italy holds the record for microenterprises paying the highest bills in Europe. This year the cost of energy for microenterprises was about two and a half times more than for large companies. CGIA of Mestre reports that "if for artisans, small traders and very small businesses with consumption of less than 20 MWh the cost reached 348.3 euros per MWh, large businesses, with consumption ranging between 70 thousand and 150 thousand MWh per year, paid only 131.6 euros per MWh". In Europe, according to Eurostat data referring to small businesses, the average was 294 euros. In Italy the cost is 5.8% higher than in Germany, 38% higher than in France and 43.2% higher than in Spain. Italian small businesses are paying the price of laws that provide a subsidized cost of electricity for large industries.
