From September 2025, access to the faculties of Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine will change: the Chamber of Deputies has definitively approved the enabling law that abolishes the entrance test, moving the selection to the end of the first semester of study. The reform, sought by University Minister Anna Maria Bernini, affects only State universities and introduces a new selection system based on first-semester exams. Students will be able to freely enroll in the first year, but only those who obtain a sufficient score will be allowed to continue in the academic path. The programmed number for subsequent years remains. The goal of the reform is to overcome the old model of the cross-check test, ensuring a fairer assessment of students' skills. The government will have one year to detail the new selection methods.
