"Maratona di New York" (“New York Marathon”) a feature film produced by The Box Film and based on the play of the same name by Edoardo Erba, which was staged in 1993 and immediately became one of the most resounding successes of contemporary Italian theater, has debuted in Italian theaters: translated into 17 languages over the years, it has been performed all over the world, from Rome to London, Buenos Aires, Sydney, Boston and Tokyo. It stars Davide Paganini and Massimiliano Caretta, Enzo Paci, Chiara Degani and Giacomo Ardito. Already successfully presented at a number of industry festivals, it won the award for Best Set Design at the CineOff - International Independent Film Festival in Jesi. The story has three main characters: two men and a road. For weeks Mario and Steve have been training to participate in the New York City Marathon. Their stubborn run into the sunset goes through woods and escarpments, as they do every day. But that evening is not like any other. There is a strange restlessness in the air. In the fatigue of the ride, the camaraderie dialogue becomes more enigmatic and tight, shot through with ghosts near and far. Mario, the shyer and less athletic of the two, begins to ask questions about himself and his friend: there are many details that do not add up. The truth will make its way through the fog, toward a lacerating and surprising ending.
