Pordenone has been designated as the 2027 Cultural Capital. The Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, made the announcement in the presence of representatives from all ten finalist cities: Alberobello (Puglia), Aliano (Basilicata), Brindisi (Puglia), Gallipoli (Puglia), La Spezia (Liguria), Pompeii (Campania), Pordenone (Friuli-Venezia Giulia), Reggio Calabria (Calabria), Sant'Andrea di Conza (Campania), and Savona (Liguria). Pordenone follows Agrigento (2025) and L'Aquila (2026). The winning city will get one million euros to implement the cultural program outlined in the candidacy dossier. "The project," Minister Giuli stated upon reviewing the motivation, "is distinguished by its aspiration to transform culture into a catalyst for sustainable development. It will offer a well-defined program that can engage a diverse and extensive audience throughout the year. The investment approach is strong and aligned with the objectives, and it is expected to have a substantial impact on the socioeconomic fabric".
