The body of a 19-year-old man was found on the tracks at the Porta Vescovo station in Verona. According to an initial reconstruction by the Railway Police, the young man reportedly died electrocuted after climbing onto the roof of a freight train in what appears to have been a fatal stunt. The young man had come out with some friends from a nightclub near the station when he allegedly decided to climb over the rail fence and onto a convoy stopped on the tracks. During the action, he allegedly touched the power line wires, being electrocuted on the spot. Before the tragedy, Edoardo reportedly phoned a friend, reporting, "We are on the wagons, T. is injured, I'm calling 118". Shortly thereafter, the call would be cut off due to a dead cell phone battery. The young man's body was found by officers from the Verona Police Headquarters, who intervened together with the Railway Police. The State Police launched the investigation under the supervision of the Public Prosecutor's Office, which opened a file to shed light on the incident. The missing person report had been filed by Edoardo's parents when the boy did not return home. Investigators are now trying to identify the friends who were with him that night to accurately reconstruct the last moments of his life.
