Grant Paterson, 54, a Scottish tourist who was critically injured in the building collapse in Monteverde, Rome, on March 23, died. The victim, who was treated at Sant'Eugenio with burns covering 70% of his body, died after days of pain. The Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an inquiry into disaster and manslaughter, including an autopsy to determine the reasons of death. Investigators are trying to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the explosion that led the structure to collapse. While the location is still under seizure, an engineer has been assigned to provide technical consultation. Paterson had been in Rome for a vacation on March 17 and was scheduled to return to Scotland the day following the incident. The search for any remaining triggers or gas cylinders beneath the rubble continues.
