The International Conference Arctic Connections 2025 - Space in the Arctic was held in Rome, organized by the Italian Society for International Organization (SIOI), the Royal Embassy of Norway, and the High North Center for Business and Governance/Nord University in Bodø. Foreign Minister Tajani wanted to emphasize the crucial importance of the Arctic Sea as a new strategic crossroads in geopolitical and economic terms. Italy is an increasingly central region for NATO security, for the availability of natural resources, including energy, and for the opening of new maritime routes in light of the impact of climate change and its global consequences. "We want Italy to be increasingly present in the Arctic also to seize the opportunities that are opening up for our companies in sectors with high potential, such as infrastructure, energy, defense, the blue economy and logistics, up to space and connectivity," the Farnesina titular indicated, recalling that in 2026 Rome will host the Arctic Circle Forum, a unique opportunity to be seized to increasingly foster Italian research in the region.
