Private capital is growing in 2024 and is not just a tool for raising capital: this is what emerged during the annual conference of AIFI (Italian Association of Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt), held in Milan in collaboration with KPMG. The year ended for AIFI with 183 members, heterogeneous both in size and in the activities carried out: a growth path that goes hand in hand with the industry. The private equity and venture capital portfolio consists of 2,400 companies and private debt, in the last five years, has recorded investments in 600 companies. "In Italy there are 225,000 companies between 10 and 250 employees," explains AIFI President Innocenzo Cipolletta. "Of these, 425 are listed companies and have 1.7 million employees, while 2,372 are held by private equity and 620 are involved in private debt. Doing the calculation, we have a total of 3,000 companies participating in private capital that employ more than 850,000 employees: this shows that private capital is not just a financing system; on the contrary, it brings expertise and objectives”.
