The first trains to Milan have departed from the "Gare de Lyon" station in Paris, marking the resumption of high-speed service between Italy and France after a 19-month hiatus. The landslide in the Maurienne valley, which occurred at the end of August 2023, is now a distant memory, and passengers may cross the Alps in 7 hours on three daily trains operated by the SNCF, the French railways, and Trenitalia's two Frecciarossa. During the opening, Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF Voyageurs, spoke on the possibility of the French becoming Italy's third operator. "We will be the third operator on Italian railways", stated the manager. "We have demonstrated that we can work extremely well with the Italians". Meanwhile, the testing with bodycams for FS Security staff has begun in Liguria: for four months, ten devices will be installed with the goal of strengthening the security and protection of staff and passengers in stations and on major railway lines. Subsequently, an expansion throughout Italy is envisaged.
