The 57th edition of Vinitaly, the international wine and spirits fair, opened yesterday in Verona, scheduled until April 9. With about 4,000 companies present and a full fairground, the event confirms itself as a reference point for the Italian wine sector and a barometer of its prospects on global markets. Operators from all over Italy and 140 countries are expected, with the goal of replicating - and possibly exceeding - the 30,000 international buyers of the last edition. The United States, the main outlet market for Italian wine, leads the patrol of top buyers from overseas, followed by Canada, China, the United Kingdom, Brazil, India, Singapore, Japan and South Korea. On the European front, Germany, Switzerland, Nordic countries and the Balkan area stand out. 1,200 accredited Top Buyers from 71 countries, six more than in 2023, will join the event, underscoring how the result is far from a foregone conclusion, considering the current geopolitical tensions.
