Thousands of people accepted the invitation to visit the homes of renowned people who have shaped Italian and global history, encompassing art, literature, music, architecture, and much more. On April 5 and 6, the 'International Days of Houses of Memory and Museums of Illustrious Figures' allowed the public to visit 143 mansions throughout 19 regions. In Genoa, for example, Casa Mazzini. In Florence, Villa La Pietra, birthplace of Sir Harold Acton, and Casa Guidi, which commemorates Elizabeth Barrett and Robert Browning. In Certaldo, the home of Boccaccio, the Museum of the great tenor Caruso in Lastra a Signa, Leonardo da Vinci’s birthplace in Anchiano. In Lucca, the Puccini Museum and, in the province, the Puccini Villa Museum in Viareggio, Carducci’s birthplace in Valdicastello, and in Papiano, the villa linked to Laura Towne Merrick.
