Four out of five Italians are concerned about how tariffs would affect their economic situation. Southerners are the most concerned. This is supported by a SWG poll conducted in the same days that Trump made real his promises to impose severe tariffs. According to the survey, 41% of respondents are highly concerned about the impact on their personal financial status. A figure that jumps to 51% for people aged 35 to 44 and soars to 61% among Southerners. 29% said they are aware of the potential consequences, but are not "very concerned". 19% say they don't believe it will have any effect on their economic situation, while 21% respond "don't know". In the tariff war, 41% of the sample are very concerned about the problems that Italian companies face while exporting to America, while 44% are "somewhat" concerned. Adding together “very” and “somewhat”, the figure reaches 81%.
