King Charles and Queen Camilla have landed in Italy to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. Their Grand Tour begins in the Eternal City, where the British royals intend to shoot photographs in beautiful and unique corners of Rome. The historic date is April 9, 2005, when Charles and Camilla married at the Guildhall and St. George's Chapel in Windsor, an event preceded, on April 8, by then-Prince Charles’s attendance at the funeral of Pope John Paul II. "To say that we can't wait to be in Italy is to give in to a bit of British understatement", King Charles said during a dinner with Inigo Lambertini, the Italian ambassador to London. King Charles is scheduled to deliver a speech to the Chambers on April 9, and, as the British ambassador Lord Edward Llewellyn had foreseen, he may also address the audience in Italian at Montecitorio. The visit will commence with a reception at the Quirinale by President Sergio Mattarella, followed by visits to the Imperial Forums and the Colosseum. Charles first visited Italy in 1984 and has returned sixteen times since, most recently in 2021 for the G20 Summit in Rome.
