Fincantieri cashes in on a new maxi order worth about 3 billion euros. The group led by Pierroberto Folgiero has signed an agreement with Carnival Corporation & PLC to design and build two new cruise ships for AIDA Cruises, the leading company in the German-speaking cruise market. The two ships will be delivered in early 2030 and late 2031, respectively. Each unit will have about 2,100 passenger cabins and will be equipped with multi-fuel engines, capable of operating on LNG, biodiesel, and next-generation sustainable fuels, in line with the decarbonization goals of the industry and the course set for the group by CEO Folgiero, who has made the push for increasingly high-performance units from the perspective of green targets one of the pillars of the strategy for building new cruise ships. As for its relationship with Carnival Corporation, which is a giant in the cruise industry founded in 1972, Fincantieri has so far delivered 75 vessels to the Anglo-American group for its various companies, and it has a long-standing partnership with Carnival. The new contract brings to 14.5 billion the orders placed by Fincantieri in the cruise industry since the beginning of the year.
