Catania is the Italian city with the most hours of sunshine per month: an impressive 273.74 hours on average, according to an analysis by Holidu, a search engine for vacation rentals, which looked at the Top 50 Italian locations considering hours of sunshine, average temperature and accommodation prices. Syracuse (273.10 hours) and Cagliari (267.81) follow on the podium. In fourth and fifth place are Andria and Bari, representing Puglia. Surprisingly, Pescara is sixth, ahead of Rome, the only major city in the top 10. Closing out the top 10 are Palermo, Taranto and Sassari. Among the other big cities: Naples is 12th, Turin 14th, while Milan is only 34th with 220.08 hours. Worse are Florence (43rd) and Aosta, the tail end with 169.71 hours of sunshine per month. Climatically, Syracuse has the highest average annual temperature (19.13°C), while Aosta is the coldest with just 6.61°C.
