According to Coldiretti's analysis, national wines have seen the highest sales growth, demonstrating Italians' rising interest in territorial uniqueness. A tendency that coincides with the rise of organic farming: Italy today has one-quarter of the world's organic vineyards, indicating a sustainable evolution of the wine industry. In the top ten most popular wines of 2024—compiled by Coldiretti based on Circana data—the Sicilian Inzolia leads with a +12.9% sales increase. This is followed by Apulian Primitivo (+11.8%) and Vermentino (+11.7%), a grape symbolic of Sardinia, Tuscany, and Campania. In fourth place is Friulian Ribolla (+11.3%) and in fifth, the only international variety on the list: Pinot Noir (+9.8%). The list is completed by Piedmontese Nebbiolo (+8.9%), Sardinian Cannonau (+8.6%), Sicilian Grillo (+8.3%), Falanghina Campana, and Trentino Lagrein, both of which have increased by 6.8%.
