The Pope’s condition is “stable, with slight improvements that were evident on Sunday both in his movement and his voice". This was confirmed yesterday by the Vatican Press Office, referring to Pope Francis’ surprise appearance in St. Peter’s Square for the Jubilee of the Sick and Healthcare Workers, motivated by “the Pope’s wish to be present for this moment of closeness with sick pilgrims". From a medical standpoint, he continues the therapies as prescribed by the doctors; he uses high oxygenation flows at night only when necessary, and his overall clinical status remains stable. The Pope is "gradually" resuming meetings. He saw Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, yesterday, and continues to work. Currently, he communicates with the many Dicasteries of the Roman Curia and receives documentation to review. He concelebrates Mass daily, and for tomorrow’s catechesis, the text will be published in written form, as has been done in recent weeks. As for Holy Week, which begins Sunday with Palm Sunday, no specific plans have been announced: “We will evaluate each event individually", the Vatican stated. The Pope is still able to make phone calls and has recently phoned the parish in Gaza multiple times to express his closeness.
