A few meters from Pompeii's Archaeological Park, Italy's largest fountain has been inaugurated: an astonishing 200-meter-long structure capable of transforming itself into a stage of water, lights, and music. Watercube, a Veneto-based company situated in Marano Vicentino, is the protagonist of this new hydraulic engineering marvel. The system, which was created inside the show section of the Maxi Mall Pompeii, Southern Italy's largest retail and entertainment center, uses nearly 2,000 nozzles, 1,150 spotlights, laser projectors, fog effects, and a 12-meter-high "water screen" for projections on a water wall. Behind the visual magic lies a high-tech facility: 50,000 liters of water per minute in motion, 16 kilometers of cables, 750 meters of stainless steel collectors, and a 8,192-channel DMX system for show management, complete with real-time audio-light synchronization. The installation also includes an 800-square-meter “wet/dry” walkable surface.
