The Rome Public Prosecutor's Office opened a preliminary investigation after a computer scientist reported the presence, on some online platforms, of the personal telephone numbers of the highest offices of State, including those of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The contacts are reportedly for sale at a price of 50 euros each. The Copasir, the Parliamentary Committee for the Security of the Republic, also wants to shed light on the case and has announced a request for detailed information. The investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office, coordinated by Chief Prosecutor Francesco Lo Voi, is currently without any suspects or formalized offense hypotheses. Italy's Data Protection Supervisor has also launched an investigation into possible violations of privacy regulations.
