For the next two years, an Italian will lead the European Psychiatric Association (EPA), Europe's oldest and most distinguished mental health organization. At the conclusion of the convention in Madrid, the delegates confirmed Andrea Fiorillo, Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Campania "L. Vanvitelli", as president. The EPA, which has offices in Strasbourg and Brussels, represents 44 national psychiatric societies as well as more than 80,000 psychiatrists and other mental health professionals from across Europe. The President's program appears to be quite ambitious, including six subject areas: 1. Brain Health 2. The link between physical health, mental health, and lifestyle. 3. Promoting mental health and preventing mental diseases at all stages of life 4. Improving the quality and methods of psychiatric care, both territorial and hospital-based 5. Precision psychiatry, aiming to improve psychiatric diagnoses and therapies. 6. Mental health protection for the most vulnerable, fragile, and marginalized individuals.
