Oscar Piastri claimed a commanding victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix, securing his second win of the season and becoming the first driver to take two wins in 2025. The 24-year-old Australian, driving for McLaren, started from pole and controlled the race from start to finish, never coming under real threat. Behind him, George Russell finished second after a brilliant start that saw him immediately overtake Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari, making up for a pit lane penalty that had hindered him in qualifying. The Mercedes driver made an unsuccessful attempt to challenge for the lead and later had to fend off a charging Lando Norris, who crossed the line in third after passing Leclerc.
Leclerc had to settle for fourth, ahead of teammate Lewis Hamilton. Max Verstappen endured a quiet race and finished sixth, followed by an outstanding Pierre Gasly, confirming Alpine’s strong form. Esteban Ocon (8th), Yuki Tsunoda (9th), and Oliver Bearman (10th) also finished in the points, with Bearman earning valuable points for Haas. Andrea Kimi Antonelli finished just outside the points in 11th, hampered—like the Ferrari drivers—by the deployment of the Safety Car.
In the drivers’ standings, Lando Norris remains in the lead with 77 points, followed closely by Piastri on 74. Verstappen drops to third with 69, ahead of Russell with 63. Further back are Leclerc (32), Antonelli (30), and Hamilton (25). In the constructors’ championship, McLaren extends its lead with 153 points, followed by Mercedes (93), Red Bull (71), and Ferrari (57). Thanks to their double points finish, Haas leapfrogs Williams (20 to 19) to become the top team among the midfield contenders.
