On her 25th birthday, Nadia Battocletti signs another historic feat by winning the 10 km at the European Road Championships with a time of 31'10, a new personal best and Italian record, which improves the previous one already held by the same athlete. With this victory, the Italian accomplished an extraordinary continental poker in less than a year, dominating on three different surfaces: track (gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the European Championships in Rome 2024), cross-country (gold at the European Cross Championships in Turkey) and now road. The race, run in difficult weather conditions, saw Battocletti control the pace in the first half (passing the 5 km in 15'32) and then breaking away from her opponents in the second half to cross the finish line alone ahead of Germany's Eva Dieterich (31'25) and Slovenia's Klara Lukan (31'26). Excellent performances also for the other Italian athletes: Sofiia Yaremchuck, placed seventh in 31'39, and Valentina Gemetto, ninth in 31'44, both with their personal bests. The results also earned Italy the team gold. “I am very happy, I had fun especially in the final part,” Battocletti said, “At the seventh kilometer my father and coach Giuliano told me, ’you have to go now'. And so I did. I could feel the wind, but the conditions were the right ones to run”.
