To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, the Municipality of Rome will distribute a commemorative sheet free of charge including the front pages of newspapers from April 26, 1945. The initiative, promoted by the Capitoline administration, includes the presence of newspaper sellers in various spots around the city: along the route of the traditional parade from Tor Marancia to Porta San Paolo, as well as in parks, squares, and metro stations. The sheet, printed on the occasion of April 25, will offer on the one hand a historical review of the front pages of the time and, on the other, a schedule of over 80 events planned in San Lorenzo: cultural meetings, shows, lessons, concerts, readings and activities for children. The goal, according to Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, is to build "a village of history, memory, and civil commitment" to commemorate the Resistance's basic beliefs and Italian democracy. The program is part of a larger schedule of events that will feature figures from culture, history, and art, with an emphasis on remembrance, participation, and in-depth research.
