President Sergio Mattarella has been discharged from Rome's Santo Spirito Hospital after undergoing a scheduled pacemaker implantation on Tuesday evening. His health is reported to be good, and he has confirmed his intention to fulfill all upcoming institutional commitments.On Wednesday, April 23, Mattarella will host a delegation from the Combatant and Military Associations at the Quirinale, marking the 80th anniversary of Italy's Liberation. The main celebration will take place on April 25 in Genoa, a city awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor. There, the President will visit Villa Migone, the historic site where German General Günther Meinhold signed the surrender to the National Liberation Committee in 1945. During his visit, Mattarella is also expected to attend the premiere of "D’Oro – Il sesto senso partigiano," a theatrical production by the Teatro Nazionale di Genova dedicated to the Resistance movement. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen extended her well wishes in Italian: "I join all Italians in wishing President Mattarella a speedy recovery. Dear President, all of Europe hopes to see you back in full health soon." President Mattarella is scheduled to visit Brussels on May 20.
