Milan takes the top spot among Europe's most expensive cities for rent, according to a 2024 study by Scenari Immobiliari and Abitare Co. Excluding London, the Lombard capital comes in first place with a monthly average of 2,090 euros for a downtown apartment, surpassing even Amsterdam and Paris. Rome follows in fourth place, while Munich comes in fifth. In Milan, the increase in rents was +5.6% year-on-year, accompanied by +4% in contracts signed, amounting to about 76 thousand new residential leases in 2024. The trend also concerns suburban areas, where demand has grown by 70% in recent years, driven by students and workers who choose the city for its opportunities.
