Rome is preparing to host one of the most solemn events in its recent history: the funeral of Pope Francis. More than 200 thousand people and more than 170 international delegations, including numerous heads of state and government leaders, are expected at the ceremony, scheduled to take place in St. Peter's Square. It is a global event that puts the capital in the spotlight of the entire world. To ensure security, a massive operational machine has been put in place. Rome will be guarded from the air, ground, underground and even the Tiber. Terrorism alert is high, given the presence of top institutional figures. Among the measures taken are also technologically advanced tools, such as the so-called “anti-drone bazookas”: electronic devices capable of intercepting and neutralizing unauthorized drones, blocking their radio signal and forcing them to a controlled landing. This technology is essential to avoid risks in a densely crowded and highly symbolic area like St. Peter's Square.
