Exceptional liver transplant last April 19 at Padua Hospital. The donor, in fact, was a 99-year-old woman: “The oldest ever”, the hospital emphasizes on Facebook. The donation took place with a stopped heart. The recipient is in good condition. The transplant was performed by Prof. Enrico Gringeri. Never had the liver of a person so far advanced in years been transplanted. It should also be mentioned that still-heart donation is a technique developed by the Cardiac Surgery of the Company headed by Prof. Gino Gerosa. The President of the Lazio Region, Luca Zaia, is also proud: “An extraordinary intervention, which not only marks a new milestone in transplant medicine and surgery, but also represents the best face of our health care: that of a scientific community that knows no limits when it comes to treating and saving lives”. “Once again,” Zaia continued, “Veneto proves that it is in the forefront of healthcare”.
