14.2 million Italians will take advantage of the long weekends of April 25 and May 1 for spring vacation, with an average stay of 5.1 days, up from 3.8 in 2024. This is the result of a Tecnè survey for Federalberghi, which estimates the tourism movement will generate €7.2 billion in spending. The busiest travel days will be Thursday, April 24 (7.4 million people) and between April 26–30 (3.5 million). Seaside resorts continue to be the most popular destinations, followed by art cities. The majority of travelers, 87.2%, will remain in Italy, while 12.8% will choose to travel to foreign destinations, particularly major European capitals and non-European destinations. The majority of vacationers will opt to travel by private vehicle, with a preference for destinations that are easily accessible. An interesting feature is the quest for novelty: many Italians choose to visit places they have never been before in pursuit of fresh experiences and lesser-known natural settings.
