talians still show limited attention to sustainability in personal care and transportation. This is the result of a national study coordinated by the School of Specialization in Hygiene and Preventive Medicine at the University of Udine, and published in the journal Sustainability.
The six-month survey, conducted with a sample of 420 participants, explored knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to sustainable living in areas such as shopping, mobility, waste management, energy use, and household consumption.
Of the 40 products and practices assessed – including the use of solid shampoo and the purchase of seasonal fruit – 87% were considered beneficial for sustainability, yet only 67% are actually adopted by participants.
Personal care (77%) and transportation (85%) emerged as the areas with the lowest adoption rates, mainly due to lack of practicality (25%), limited availability (23%), and high costs (13%).
