“Today, Italy marks the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation. On this day, the Nation honors its regained freedom and reaffirms the centrality of those democratic values that the fascist regime had denied and which have been enshrined in the Republican Constitution for the past seventy-seven years. Democracy draws strength and vitality from respect for others, from dialogue and freedom — not from oppression, hatred, or the delegitimization of political opponents. Today, we renew our commitment to ensuring that this anniversary becomes increasingly a moment of national unity, in the name of freedom and democracy, and against all forms of totalitarianism, authoritarianism, and political violence.” This is the message released by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on the occasion of the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation.
