Italian Design Day: an encounter with Odoardo Fioravanti

(2 March 2017) Odoardo Fioravanti is one of the most acclaimed Italian designers in the world and has received 28 awards since 2001. He collaborates many prestigious companies in Italy and abroad. Odoardo Fioravanti will be guest of honour at the Italian Cultural Institute in Brussels on March 2 (19:00) at the first Italian Design Day. Alongside him during this evening dedicated to Italian design is the journalist and artistic director of the triennial Reciprocity Design Liège Giovanna Massoni. "A free copy of the latest issue of the Institute’s Italian Design journal “Cartaditalia”, edited by Beppe Finessi, will be available to all guests. Cartaditalia is the most comprehensive guide to Italian design journal to date, published in four languages (Italian, French, Dutch and English). Students from various Design schools in Brussels will also participate in the event" according to the ICI website. The Italian Design Day is an initiative promoted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation for the first time. There will be more than 100 related events across the world promoting Italian design. Design permeates various fields such as culture, art and philosophy, as well as being synonymous with quality and Italian creativity abroad. (Red)


WHO IS ODOARDO FIORAVANTI?

Odoardo Fioravanti studied industrial design at the Poytechnic University of Milan and has worked as a designer, experimenting with graphic design and exhibition design, since 2003. He teaches in many schools and universities such as the Polytechnic University of Milan, Iuav in Venice, Domus Academy, Marangoni Institute, Naba, the Scuola Politecnica di Design of Milan, and Head in Geneva. His works have been showcased in several international exhibitions. He has won many prestigious awards among which the Golden Compass in 2011. He also works as a freelance journalist for design journals. Since 2006, Fioravanti and his firm Odo Fioravanti Design, have carried out projects for brands such as Abet Laminati, Ballarini, Casamania, COOP, Desalto, Eurochocolate, Flou, Fontana, Fonata Arte, Foscarini, Gardesa, Guardini, Incotex, Mesa, Normann Copenhagen, Olivetti, Omnidecor, OPOS, Osama, Palomar, Pedrali, Pianca, Pinetti, Pircher, Segis, Telecom Italia, Toshiba, Vibram, and Victorinox Swiss Army.
