March 8th, Roma Tre University for African students

(March 8 2017) On the occasion of March 8th, Roma Tre University invites to a gesture of solidarity to African students. The University participates in the project "A degree for a degree", an initiative promoted by Rita Levi-Montalcini Onlus Foundation to guarantee the right to higher education for African universities's young women. "Graduation is a milestone for all young people, essential for development and growth of a nation - the University said in a statement - however, the access to higher education is still difficult in many countries. This is the case of the African continent, where the Foundation Rita Levi -Montalcini Onlus is engaged in the project "A degree for a degree" to guarantee the right to higher education for African universities's young women". The initiative "A degree for a degree"is aimed at graduates, their families and their friends that, in graduation occasion, can donate a sum of any entity, which will go to fund university scholarships intended for one or more girls for higher education in Africa. The revenues will be used to provide support to students from poor families, who would otherwise have no chance to deal with and conclude their studies. (PO / Red)

ABOUT/ FOUNDATION RITA LEVI-MONTALCINI

The Foundation Rita Levi-Montalcini Onlus aims to support girls' education in Africa for two reasons: first, is to give to every woman the tools to fully develop their abilities allowing them to escape the discrimination and carry out with dignity their rightful society role. The second reason is that women's education provides an essential contribution to the economic, social and cultural development of the whole society. The Foundation has so far been able to help more than 12,000 children, girls and women from more than 36 African countries contributing to the funding of over 150 projects, from first-level literacy to computer courses in English. University education is, of course, the most expensive.
