(April 7, 2017) Far away from everything, in the forest, in an abandoned neighbourhood there lives a man in solitude. A mystery disturbs his isolation: every night at the same time, the darkness is interrupted by a small light that turn on on the mountain right in front of his stone house. “La lucina” (small light) (2013) is the title of Antonio Moresco’s book. The Italian Cultural Institute of Prague has invited the author for the occasion of his book’s translation into Czech, “Světýlko”. This programme, moderated by Alice Flemrova and Mauro Ruggiero, was organised in collaboration with the Modern Languages Department of the University of Karlova and the publishing house “Dybbuk”. “Ours is a terminal age, even in literature, petrified in the Medusa’s gaze” underlined Moresco who announced the publication of his new novel “L’amore” (Love) at the end of 2018. “It is not enough to be able to breathe; we also need to fight while the conditions for breathing still exist”. This is where the urgency of writing, communicating a world vision that clears up with fluctuating narrative structures capable of harmonising the duality in new forms of shared representation because ‘art is fecundative and requires confrontation”. “La lucina”, translated in several languages, has inspired many film interpretations. Moresco was born in Mantua in 1947 and lives in Milan. He is considered to be on the major contemporary Italian writers. He has published many works his most recent ones being: “Fiaba d’amore” (Fairytale of Love) (Mondadori, 2014), “I randagi” (The Strays) (Mondadori 2014) and “Gli increati” (The Uncreated) (Mondadori, 2015). MORESCO’S WORKS

Moresco’s principle works were refused by many publishing houses before he found a way to to advance his career as a writer. His most representative work is the monumental trilogy titled “L’increato” (The Uncreated) which consists of “Gli esordi” (The Beginnings), “Canti del caos” (Chants of Chaos)and “Gli increati” (The Uncreated) which will be re-printed by Mondadori and soon to be translated into French.
