(27 April 2017) "And if anyone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles", a piece of teaching from Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew. The theology of religions and interreligious dialogue have marked an extraordinary parable in the late twentieth century, allowing the religious authorities to travel along the "first mile" together - characterised by genuine friendship and mutual respect, without risking a historical-theological impoverishment. The first mile was a difficult path. 500 years after Luther's Reformation, what will the second mile hold for inter-religious dialogue and peace between cultures? This is the question historian of Christianity, Alberto Melloni will attempt to answer in conversation with Church historian, Gianmaria Zamagni at a conference on Wednesday, May 17 (18.30) at the Italian Cultural Institute in Munich. The event is sponsored by the ICI in collaboration with Forum Italia. (Red)
