Cooperation and culture, the Eunic Sudan cluster opens on Italian impulse

(May 8, 2017) Spreading in Sudan the deepest message of convincing Europeanism, i.e. to be united in diversity. With this aim, Khartoum was the first cluster of European Union National Institutes of Cultures (EUNIC Sudan). The project, initiated on the initiative of the Italian Embassy (through the Dante Alighieri Society) and the cultural institutes of France, Germany and Great Britain, aims to intercept Sudanese socio-cultural instances and realities in search of points of summary for the benefit of the local population. The mantra that the EUNIC Sudan Cluster intends to maintain in its activities is to enhance the aspects of diversity and cultural multiplicity in Sudan as a source of wealth not only in theoretical but also practical terms. For example, think of the possibility of developing micro-entrepreneurial, artistic, tourism and social potential arising from the highlighting (and commercialization) of Sudan's identity consisting of a magnificent multiplicity of sources and roots: Christianity and Islam, Arabism and Africanism, Nomadism and stationery, hundreds of tribes, clans, dialects, and even spoken languages, thousands of miles of intercultural frontier. "EUNIC Sudan - observes the Italian Ambassador in Sudan Fabrizio Lobasso - will implement its goals both through a broad-based socio-cultural project, such as creating a mapping and a network of subjects capable of expressing locally and artistically the diversity of Sudan, both through artistic activities and capacity building that reflect the same intercultural dimension and show, just as much as Europe does, the richness of Sudan's 'cultural' diversity. ABOUT / THE SUDANESE IDENTITY

Multiplicity of lifestyles, artistic expressions, musical styles, verbal and non-verbal communication means, non-written juridical habits, architectural and housing trends, urban and peripheral living dimensions: in Sudan there is a world unknown by the international community and which will potentially contribute to the creation of prosperity, growth, economic and social development.
