(9 May 2017) Blankfort fell in love with Rome in 1966. But his love for the capital, its inhabitants, and its beauties, is alive now more than ever and is visible today in the eyes and the heart of those who admire his photographs. The photographs of the American photographer, Jeffrey Blankfort will be displayed at the Italian Institute of Culture of San Francisco, where on Wednesday, 10 May, the exhibition "I bambini di Roma" will be inaugurated in the presence of the artist. It will remain open to the public until Friday 9 June. Blankfort arrived in Rome in January 1966 and was the first of his many Italian travels. He spends six months in Rome, during which time he comes into contact with the incomparable beauty of the Eternal City and where he developed his interest of its. In particular, the photographer was particularly attracted to the different relations between adults and children - the latter being more deeply integrated into adult life with respect to the more rigid US customs. The photographs on display at the Italian Institute of Culture were first presented to the public in 1967 in San Francisco at Union Street's Focus Gallery. (Red)


A STORY TOLD WITH PHOTOGRAPHS

Upon his return to the United States, Blankfort documented the political conflicts of time, including the Vietnam War and the Black Panthers. His photographs were published on TIME, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, Saturday Evening Post, The New York Times, Ramparts, San Francisco Chronicle and other major publications, including Espresso and Panorama.
