Music, Italian artists in the Czech Republic for the Festival

(26 May 2017) Everything is ready in the Czech Republic for the XXIII edition of the 13th International Music Festival "Concentus Moraviae" (June 3 - 29) offering more than thirty concerts in castles, churches and synagogues of numerous locations in southern Moravia and the Vysocina region. This edition, edited by Maestro Václav Luks, is devoted to the theme of human voice and song in all its forms, from choral to popular music, from baroque to jazz. A special emphasis was placed on Claudio Monteverdi on the occasion of his 450th birthday. The Festival will host harpsichordist, organist, orchestra conductor and artistic director of the Cantar Lontano ensemble in the residence of artist Marco Mencoboni. The event will also feature the participation of many other Italian artists. The concerts are sponsored by the Italian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Aldo Amati, and held in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture of Prague. (Red

MUSICAL REVOLUTION

Claudio Monteverdi's activity marked the transition from Renaissance music to Baroque. He was one of the main innovators who accompanied the evolution of musical language, along with the "Prince of Musicians", Carlo Gesualdo. Monteverdi wrote one of the first theatrical works in which a dramatic plot, or a melodrama, Orpheus, could be developed and he was lucky enough to enjoy his success while still alive.
