Professor Paolo Dario receives the highest recognition in bio robotics

(2 June 2017) The "RAS Pioneer Award" is considered to be the world's most prestigious award in the field of robotics and automation and it goes to scientists in the field of scientific research and technological innovation. Paolo Dario, director of the Institute of bio robotics at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies of Pisa was awarded with the 2017 RAS Pioneer Award in conjunction with the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) being held these days in Singapore. "I am very proud to have received this recognition. It demonstrates how it is possible to carry out quality research in Italy despite all the difficulties we face and overcome. My thanks go to the Sant'Anna School of Advance Studies and to the whole university system of Pisa where I have been able to carry out my research and contribute to the growth of young colleagues, successfully and with passion". The "IEEE Robotics and Automation", a world-renowned robotics and automation company, awarded Paolo Dario the pioneering work in bio robotics to "integrate robotic automation and engineering with biology and medicine" according to the statement. The award recognises the Italian researcher as a key player in the development and affirmation of robotic engineering and integrated robots, which have become world-leading research sectors with a significant contribution from Italy. RECOGNITION

The "RAS Pioneer Award" comes three years after another award by IEEE Robotics and Automation for Dario. It is the "IEEE RAS George Saridis Leadership Award in Robotics and Automation" for consolidating robotics as a pervasive technology that touches all aspects of our lives.
