(9 June 2017) For the occasion of the European Music Festival, Francesca Dego (violin) and Francesca Leonardi (piano), who debuted on tour in China in August 2014, are preparing their trip to Vienna. The two promising Italian musicians - with several recordings for the prominent German label, Deutsche Grammophon which specialises in producing classical music albums - will hold a concert on Wednesday 21 June at 19:00 at the Italian Institute of Culture. They will offer a programme of musical variations with arias by Bellini, Mozart, Rossini, and other composers connected to Italy. They will also perform works of Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, Schnittke, Stravinsky, and a tribute to the Italian composer, Mario Castelnuovo Tedesco who is among one of the composers who became the most connected with music for guitar. The two musicians have had many experiences abroad where they have been well received by the public and critic. They performed in the most important concert halls and prestigious chamber music seasons in Italy, the UK, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Japan, Argentina, Peru, the Middle East, and the United States. DEGO AND LEONARDI


Francesca Dego (Lecco 1989) is considered among the best contemporary Italian musicians. She debuted as a soloist at the early age of 7 in California performing a Bach concert, and debuted in Italy at the age of 14 with Beethoven and Mozart with Shlomo Mintz in Tel Aviv the following year. Since then, she is invited to perform solo with the most important orchestras. She performed at Wigmore Hall and at the Royal Albert Hall in London, in Moscow (Tchaikovsky Hall), St. Petersburg, Brussels, Austria, and France. She has performed a solo Concert for Life and Peace in Bethlehem and Jerusalem broadcast from RAI in mondovisione. Francesca Leonardi graduated from the Academy of Music in Pescara, the Chigi Music Academy in Siena and the Royal College of Music in London with Nigel Clayton and Roger Vignoles. She has abundant activity of chamber music concerts with instrumentalists and singers. She has been part of a duo with renowned English pianist, Nigel Clayton since 2011.
