Don Giovanni of Mozart and Da Ponte at the Institute of Culture

(9colonne) On Monday July 3 at 7.30 pm "The Prague Days of Clarinet" together with the Italian Institute of Culture of Prague bring to the Institute of Culture the "Don G" Project of the Clarimonia Ensemble, inspired by the opera Don Giovanni of Mozart. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Lorenzo da Ponte have brought to a completely new dimension the collective imagination linked to the figure of Don Giovanni. During Mozart's few months’ stay in Villa Bertramka, as guest of his friends, the Duseks, he wrote a work that immediately established itself internationally and is still called "the opera of operas" for good reason. The first performance took place 230 years ago (in 1787) at the Nostitz Theater (now the State Theater) in Prague and from that moment on, the figure of the protagonist remained forever linked to Prague. The modern adaptation of the famous opera with the use of clarinets of different stamps and shades offers the audience a pleasant and unusual musical experience. Along with the short texts - partly explanatory, partly sarcastic - a specific concert program was born. Bernhard Kosling's modern text, in the interpretation of excellent actors, enriches the original booklet of the Italian Lorenzo da Ponte with new suggestions.
