Exhibitions: eyes focused on 'Disìo. Nostalgia of the Future'

(6 July 2017) The intergenerational, transmedial, and multicultural exhibition will remain open until Sunday, July 9 in Caracas. "Disìo. Nostalgia of the Future" was curated by Antonello Tolve (with the contribution of Carolina Balzae Félix Suazo and with the collaboration of Patricia Hambrona and Narda Zapata). The exhibition was hosted in the galleries of the Italian Institute of Culture of Caracas.  The show is divided into three sections - "The Presence of the Future," "Returning," and "Past Next" - each of which is a intersection of the others, the Disio project - a term borrowed from Dante (Purgatorio VIII, vv. 1-3: "Era già l'ora che volge il disio") referring to the trick of time when it comes to nostalgia - aims to create an opportunity for debate about the state of art: a place that reactivates critical judgment and intelligence from an atmosphere from which they are often banished. Marked by a relationship of cultural participation, linguistic contamination, necessary coexistence of differences and the basic evocation of a unterschiedlich (Nietzsche), the exhibition aims to reflect on a series of contemporary phenomena that, born from the impetus of globalisation, demonstrate certain codes that are increasingly open to the fusion of styles, expressions, and creative formulas that overcome the boundary of everyday life and transform the work into a device of thoughtful order that invites to view the world, things, and events, from a different perspective.
