Constitutional law: Brasilian students and international docents collaborating in Siena

(11 July 2017) The University of Siena is increasingly a global institution. 60 students from Brazil and 24 international docents will be collaborating in the next few days at the University for the third edition of the summer course in constitutional law: “Democracia e Desenvolvimento”. The summer course, ongoing until July 14, was organised with the Brasilian University “Faculdades Alfa-Alves Faria” and is the result of a consolidated collaborative academic effort between DIPEC – the interdepartmental research and training centre for public European and comparative law – and the Brazilian University, for common research projects and programmes. Students, doctorate candidates, researchers, and professionals in the field of law, have been given the opportunity to participate thanks to a sharing of different cultures between colleagues and docents. They have the opportunity to improve their skills in the field of constitutional law with a particular focus on the globalisation of law and dialogue between different legal systems. The lectures, coordinated by Professors Tania Groppi and Andrea Pisaneschi from the University of Siena and André Ramos Tavares and Thiago Matsushita from the Brazilian Universities “Faculdades Alfa-Alves Faria”, will be taught in Spanish and Portuguese in the lectures halls of the law department of the University of Siena. There are four modules offered to students focusing on the legal protection of basic rights, civil and political rights, social rights and the relationship between law and the economic development (PO/red)
