(21 July 2017) "There is something striking and fascinating and the causes one to reflect in Fabio Gallozzi's photographs: it is the quality of light or rather the game that light and dark play in his images. This quality highlights the subject that Gallozzi chooses - one and multiple at the same time: the gestures, the movements through which Japanese artists and artisans express themselves, make objects, perform ceremonies, and make their art come to life" This is how Japanese culture expert, Rossella Marangoni describes "The creative gesture": a photographic exhibition by Flavio Gallozzi soon to open in Osaka. The Art Space of the Italian Institute of Culture of Osaka (Nakanoshima Festival Hall bldg. 17F, 2-3-8 Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka-shi, Osaka-fu) will feature 36 shots by Gallozzi: the exhibition will be open to the public from Saturday July 22nd to Saturday August 5th. "The creative gesture, Te no kokoro", the full title of the show, is Gallozzi's first show in Osaka. Gallozzi is an Italian photographer based in Milan, who has been working in the field of advertising and magazines for more than thirty years. On a visit to Japan for personal reasons, he became fascinated by the peculiarity of Japanese culture, and began photographing hands and gestures of people who dedicate their lives to carrying these traditions. In 2011, his photographs become a series: from that moment he exhibited his work in various Italian cities with the title "The creative gesture". "The live and current taste of ancient gestures, handed down from generation to generation from a master to his student according to the traditional practice of transmitting arts in Japan is captured in Flavio Gallozzi's photographs" writes Marangoni. The exhibition is promoted by the Italian Institute of Culture of Osaka with the patronage of the Italian Consulate General of Osaka. (Red)
