La Grande Bellezza - four-wheel Italian design

(10 February 2017) An event dedicated to the beauty of automobiles organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Cologne, Germany on March 2 at 19:00 for the International Design Day. “La Grande Bellezza- Design Italiano a quattro ruote” (The Great Beauty- Four-wheel Italian design) is the title of the conference given by Professor Paolo Tumminelli from Köln International School of Design. Automobiles are a fascinating cultural, social, and design phenomenon. Post-war Italy played a fundamental role in establishing the modern concept of automobile design, creating new methods and setting a new trend. Today, the world seas beauty in Italian automobile design. This event will showcase a succession of images that trace the history of Italian automobile design, showing the origins and themes of a myth that – although different and more globalised - is still alive today.

PAOLO TUMMINELLI

Paolo Tumminelli was born in Milan in 1965 and studied architecture at the Politecnico and Design Direction at the Domus Academy. His thesis – a collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Design Centre – was awarded at the ATA (Associazione Tecnica dell’Automobile- Technical Association of Automobiles).
