After Sanremo Gabbani is considering the Eurovision Song Contest

(February 13, 2017) The challenge won, the originality won, the irony won. Rythm and creativity. All of this in "Occidentali's Karma": the song with which Francesco Gabbani won the 67th Festival di Sanremo. Just last year Gabbani was on the Ariston stage to receive the Mia Martini Critics Award (in the junior section) and the Sergio Bardotti award for best lyrics of the Festival (in both the junior and big sections) as well as winning the 66th edition of the Festival di Sanremo in the “new proposals” sections with the song "Amen" then went platinum. He returned this year on that stage with "Occidentali's Karma", a dancing monkey, a lot of irony and a great desire to play, to dance but also to think. The choice pleases audience and critics alike and Francesco also won the “big” section of the 67th edition of the Festival di Sanremo and TIMmusic prize for being the most listened song on the homonymous platform for music streaming. Thanks to this he also won a place among the participants of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 to be held in Kiev in Ukraine in May. (Red)

ABOUT / SONG

"Occidentali's karma", already defined by critics a smash success and a song that makes everyone dance, is an electronic pop song that hides a split personality. Behind a catchy pop melody and a compelling rhythm, it in fact conceals an invitation to reflect on the way we live. "Occidentali's karma" explains Gabbani "is a satirical comments on the awkward attempt of us in the West to seek the serenity with Eastern disciplines, only to discover that, stripped from the western or eastern superstructures that are, we are all naked apes."
