The dream of modernity " by Italian artist Danilo De Rossi.
The event is organized by Redmont Consulting in collaboration with the Institute. The presentation is scheduled for Thursday, March 9 at 6 p.m.and , at the conference hall of the Institute: the exhibition will be on display until March 24. "A city that grows encompassing neighborhoods, in a state of constant transition with huge buildings, whose greatness surpasses all sense of scale. Suburbs becomes progressively central; spaces are demolished and rebuilt. While the historic cities are located around the ruins of ancient civilizations, modern cities seem to converge towards homogeneous collections of anonymous buildings and interiors, offering visitors and citizens a globalized place without diversity - said the note describing the photo book " Cityscapes - the Dream of Modernity "- the empty space between the buildings - in this aseptic reality, is this annoying? In the streets, under flyovers and wherever there is available space, the true fabric of the city manifests itself and creates a necessary diversity. These spaces are a reminder of how attempts to rationalize the wonderful complexity of human life are destined inexorably to failure. These places add incredible energy to the city and ithey are what really defines the individual character of a modern city. Here you can meet the beauty of unexpected: almost an exotic experience, in the globalized modern metropolis. " (Red)

ABOUT/ THE ARTIST

Danilo De Rossi (Rome, 1969) deals with photography for over twenty years. His first visual memories are of when - as a child - was left to admire the enormous structures of the gasometers that dominated the Roman landscape of the industrial area where his grandfather worked. Later, during his travels, it arose in him the interest in architecture, for the sense of place and for the relationship between the city and its inhabitants. His interpretation is not rational but emotional, subjects background are the city, the cultural diversity and the tension between order and disorder. The use of black and white keeps the representation of reality in the abstract. His style was inspired by Italian neorealist film images and Japanese photographers of the post-war period.
