(February 27 2017) Cooperation activities between Italy and Cameroon in favor of the "rule of law" (rules for governing the exercise of public power) and the respect for human rights, continues with new advanced training courses organized by Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa and the Ministry of Justice of Cameroon. The project has received logistical support from ENAM (Ecole Nationale d'Administration et de Magistrature du Cameroun) and is realized in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, with the scientific coordination of Andrea de Guttry, International Law professor and director of Dirpolis Institute (Law, Politics, Development) of Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna of Pisa. The first advanced training course is held in Yaoundé (Cameroon) and involves thirty-five judges and prosecutors identified by Ministry of Justice of Cameroon and other fifteen young judges chosen by ENAM. The program, organized into four days of educational activities, provides the opportunity to become familiar with international human rights standards in administration of justice. Participants can also learn more about legal requirements for protection of human rights and the mechanisms for their implementation at national level. The second phase of the project, which is always a post-graduate course, continued in May and June 2017 with a new educational initiative. Still held in Yaoundé, will be a "training of trainers "course with about 35 Cameroonian judges. The program will select a pool of trainers who will be able to replicate training activities on human rights in Cameroon to the whole body of the judiciary system. (Red)
