Exhibitions: Dubini’s and Rozhkova’s women in a ‘Vis-à-vis’ show

(28 February 2017) Two artists – Kriss Guenzati Dubini and Ekaterina Rozhkova – and two completely different but complementary outlooks on the world of family and femininity. ‘Vis-à-vis’ is the name of the exhibition that will open March 7 at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Moscow. Dubini’s work provides a more traditional and intimate insight into the way to show the theme of family and femininity whereas Rozhkova’s work is more closely linked to to ‘external’ details and objects. The exhibition, organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Moscow in collaboration with the museum of decorative arts, will remain open to the public until April 10. The exhibition will also feature pieces from the Russian National Museum of Popular Applied and Decorative Arts; two traditional Russian shawls, one manufactured by A. Baranov at the end of the 19th century, a selection of festive women’s hats from the 19th century from the Vologda and Tver regions, a selection of laced fabric from the 20th century from the norther regions of Archangelsk and Vologda. Also featured are some examples of Russian applied arts in woodworking: traditional wooden frames, windows of Russian cottages and hand-made objects that represent the zoomorphic world of archaic Russian mythology and tradition. THE TWO ARTISTS

Kriss Guenzati Dubini lives and works in Milan. She graduated from the Fine Arts Academy of Brera where she studied painting, in 1970 where she develops her passion for abstract painting and human anatomy. In her early artistic career, she uses an abstract and geometric language and begins to embrace figurative art from the 1980s onwards. She then moves on to yet another artistic form, one loved by her father: sculpture. Ekaterina Rozhkova was born in Moscow. She graduated from VGIK (Film Institute – V.A. Bogdanov laboratory, Screenwriting faculty). She then carried out an internship at the National Art Academy in Tokyo and her first solo exhibition took place in Tokyo in 1995 at Kuzo gallery.
