A conference at the ICI: An introduction to Dante’s Purgatory

(7 March 2017) A Lectura Dantis in Italian at the Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires with Professor Claudia Fernández on Thursday March 9 at 14:00. The main topics of the conference that Professor Fernández will discuss are Purgatory as a developing reign, the precedents to the 12th and 13th centuries, Dantesque innovations in tradition, the relation between Purgatory and the other two canti. This conference is supported by Jockey Club Argentino in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute. Claudia Fernández teach Italian at the Universidad de Buenos Aires and Italian Medieval Literature at the Instituto Superior del Profesorado “Joaquín V. González”. Aalone Benedetto Croce of the ICI is the host of the event. (Red)


THE ICI


The Italian Cultural Institute of Buenos Aires was founded in 1940 as the “Centro Studi Italiani” (Centre for Italian Studies). It remained closed during the Second World War and later reopened in 1952 as the “Centro Italiano di Studi” (Italian Centre for Studies). A few years later it was baptised with its current name: The Italian Cultural Institute. Maria Mazza is the current director of the ICI.
